From cultural awareness to foreign language proficiency to understanding the world marketplace, the international exposure built into the MBA system in India will be invaluable to your future business career.

India is a country on the verge of being a superpower. Its business is booming and is only expected to grow further as its economy, fuelled by technological development, becomes one of the world's strongest.

What MBA programs are offered in India?

Many Indian MBA programs reserve a certain percentage of their available places for international students, usually around 15%. The Indian MBA program generally takes two years for full time students to complete. Each semester you will have to take the core classes that make up your MBA course - such as economics, marketing and strategy - as well as the other classes that make up your chosen specialisation. In India, MBA specialisations that are offered are most commonly in marketing, human resources, operations and management.

What are the costs of studying for an MBA in India?

The cost of studying for your MBA in India is on average 350,000 Indian Rupees, which is about £4,200 per academic year. It is recommended that you allocate about 125,000 Indian Rupees (£1,500) per year for living expenses. India is an incredibly cheap place to live, and you will find that your money goes a lot further than it might elsewhere, although this depends on where you choose to live – accommodation in Mumbai and Delhi can be as expensive as in European cities like London and Paris.

Can international MBA graduates stay in India to work after graduation?

In India, work permits, or Indian employment visas, may be issued to skilled professionals or to applicants filling a specific role. The requirements for working permits are very loosely defined and remain under the jurisdiction of Indian visa services. In order to live and work in India all candidates must secure one and have proof of their projected salary.

Although either the employer or employee may obtain work permits, the 'usual' route is normally employer led. If you can find an employer to sponsor you for a visa you will be more likely to get one.
