Course Description

The course enables students to develop: A multiple perspectives approach to considering managerial problems or issues; the ability to conceptualise and apply theory to practice; a critical appreciation of participants? insights and conclusions; the skills to undertake rigorous management research; the ability to reflect and build on learning skills in communicating and disseminating research to practitioner and academic audiences.

The course focuses on 3 linked research projects: Designed to explore the management issue of choice; including a review of literature; followed by 2 empirical projects; plus a linking document: highlighting the contribution of what has been confirmed; what has been developed; and what is brand new; current research topics include: improving policy delivery in the UK public sector; strategic performance management in turbulent environments; collaborative leadership behaviour and team effectiveness; managing the business information technology relationship in the financial services industry.
