Course Description
This course is an intensive programme that immerses students in a world of academic thought and current business practice; studied over 12 months, this is a taught programme delivered by our experienced internal and visiting faculty and complemented by regular guest speakers; it is ideal for those who are looking to change direction in their career or to add significantly to their knowledge and business expertise; our MBA programmes are consistently ranked by The Economist and The Financial Times, and the School is accredited by the Association of MBAs (AMBA) and the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS); the programme is designed upon the two, interlinked principles of collaboration and developing the individual. It is also underpinned by the recognition that people undertake the MBA to advance their careers; throughout the programme students will participate in an extensive personal development programme focusing on individual and team skills, as well as key competencies such as persuasive communication and problem solving; we have recently introduced a week-long leadership module taking place in the Scottish Highlands; in the first semester, students study ten courses in major disciplines; this is the foundation upon which the whole MBA is built; in semester 2, students take a course in corporate strategy, followed by a one-week integrative project as well as specialist option courses; from April to June, students undertake a week-long leadership course, more specialist options and a consultancy project with locally-based companies; the conclusion of the MBA, the MBA Capstone project, brings all of the year's learning together in a piece of work unique to each student.Additional Entry Requirements:
A 2:1/1st class Honours degree from a good university in any subject, or an appropriate professional qualification, plus at least three years' continuous work experience in substantial positions. If you have a lower class of degree than a 2:1 equivalent then professional qualifications with substantial work experience will be considered. Applicants who do not hold a degree or professional qualifications may be considered if they have a very strong employment record demonstrating a high degree of responsibility. Generally a GMAT score is an essential part of your application (although under certain conditions a GMAT may be waived) - see the School's website for scores required. For students from non-English-speaking countries there will be an English-language requirement. A Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 600 or above on the non-computerised TOEFL test (250+ computer based or 100+ in the internet based TOEFL test) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 7 or above is required, or the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE).
