Amsterdam Graduate Business School

In 1632, when Amsterdam was one of the world's most important ports and trading centres, the Universiteit van Amsterdam was established. Today it is one of the major comprehensive universities in Europe. The business school of the university, the AgBS, has chosen the 17th century traditional Dutch ship to symbolise discovery, adventure, trade and economics. The world's first public stock exchange was founded in Amsterdam, and served as an example for stock markets all over the world. Hence, The Amsterdam MBA and the specialised Masters in International Finance (MIF) could not be situated in more befitting surroundings.

The AgBS

The Amsterdam graduate Business School builds upon a long tradition of education in business administration at the UvA. These programmes are among the best in their respective markets. The current range will be further developed and extended in the coming years. The AgBS is conveniently situated in the center of Amsterdam, Holland's thriving financial and business centre. The Amsterdam graduate Business School provides high-quality business courses for the domestic and international graduate and post-graduate market. The AgBS approach is characterised by small-scale interactive seminars and workshops and case-based programmes designed to stimulate active participation by the students. The AgBS aims to provide students with a maximum return on their investment. Its dynamic, internationally oriented programmes take the participants truly on a 'voyage of discovery'.

The AgBS recognizes the diversity and flexibility required by the international market for higher education and is continually developing modules and programmes of varying length and format but of a consistently high quality.

Programmes

The Amsterdam MBA and MIF are first-class, rigorous programmes. Students can choose to complete the programme in one year (full-time) or in two years (part-time). The aim is to provide the students with practical and theoretical training at a high academic level. All students can further specialise by picking their choice of a wide range of electives. The programmes draw on a very strong faculty with a wide international experience in international finance, international business and international economics. Visiting professors and professionals from leading financial institutes and multinationals, also play an important part in the curriculum.

Who should apply?

The programmes have a strong international focus and aim at ambitious practitioners. The courses prepare students for a professional rather than an academic career. The students come from many different cultural and educational backgrounds; providing a cosmopolitan atmosphere in the classroom. The two groups (part-time and full-time) interact throughout the programmes.
