Sport has had a profound impact on society increasingly becoming a part of everyday life for millions of people. Sport has thus become a means of physical and personal development, but it has also become a mass phenomenon attracting publicity and affecting the economy, tourism, etc.

This new reality gives rise to formative requirements in all areas: science and health, media, business, management and leisure, among others.

In response to this new multidimensional sporting concept, the Real Madrid International School – Universidad Europea de Madrid was created in 2006.

An innovative and unique school created to prepare leading professionals in all the fields connected to the sporting world. This School's postgraduate programs are aimed at university graduates and professionals who want to succeed and develop a career in the sports sector .

INTERNATIONAL VOCATION

The School is created with a clear international focus, in the same way as the two institutions that back it: on the one hand Real Madrid C.F, which has gone from being a national club to being a world famous brand and, on the other hand, the Universidad Europea de Madrid, which belongs to the Laureate International Universities, a world leader in higher education, with more than 50 institutions in 24 countries and more than 600.000 students.

The School's international ambition has meant that, in five years, it already has a presence in 10 Latin American countries, Africa, Asia and Europe with more than 500 registered students and it aims to expand in to other countries.

On a day to day basis, the students undergo an internationalization process by way of the teachers and students from every continent, an innovative teaching methodology, the involvement of world-renowned companies in the extra-academic programmes and activities and the possibility of developing training modules in other venues worldwide.

The professional approach of the Real Madrid International School - Universidad Europea de Madrid marks the training line of each of the postgraduate courses.

On the one hand, highly prestigious professionals in their respective areas, both from Real Madrid as well as the Universidad Europea de Madrid and collaborating companies, take part in creating and implementing the programmes. On the other hand, practical activities are carried out in collaboration with the best institutions in the fields of business, health, communications, etc., according to each programme.

With the aim of providing practical training, the postgraduate courses are carried out in the most advanced sports facilities:

Furthermore, the vast majority of the postgraduate courses include visits to companies or events related to the programmes, such as:

  • London's Sport Week
  • The American Sport Week in New York
  • An international stay in the Ajax sporting facilities
  • The University of Greenwich Sports Science and the London 2012 Olympic Facilities.
  • And one of the main activities planned in collaboration with the club and the school: "The White Week", an exclusive insight into Real Madrid's daily activities, narrated by its executives and professionals.

MBA IN SPORTS MANAGEMENT

Who is it for?
The objective of the MBA Master´s Degree in Sports Management is to train management professionals in the world of sport and is particularly suited to graduates who wish to guide their professional career towards sports management, sector professionals who wish to update their knowledge, professionals from other sectors who wish to join the sports world and professional athletes who, having reached the end of their playing career, aspire to continue their activity in the sports arena as managers.

Schedule
From Monday to Thursday between 09.00 h and 14.00 h.

Location
La Moraleja Campus of the Universidad Europea de Madrid, Santiago Bernabéu Stadium and Real Madrid Ciudad Deportiva.

The period of academic study in New York has a duration of 7 days. During the time spent in New York, academic classes are interspersed with visits to the top leagues (NBA, NHL, MLS) and attendance to major sporting events. Duration 60 ECTS, starting in October 2011 and ending in June 2012.

Agreements and Work Experience
Students registered for this master will have the possibility of participating in an internship too. According to the agreement between the Universidad Europea de Madrid and the Comunidad de Madrid, signed June 1st, 2010 and thus meet the requirements of the Internship module for this program.

Approach
The MBA Master´s Degree in Sports Management follows a case-based approach (group analysis of real situations suggested by the professors according to their experience) alongside the theoretical-practical development of each one of the topics being studied.

The topics are distributed between structured modules in the following manner:

25% initial theory (general concepts)
50% theoretical-practical development
25% practical case studies

Throughout the course, visits are also made to sports facilities and events in order for the student to acquire first-hand knowledge regarding the management of this type of situation.
