Chester Business School

University of Chester

Chester Business School was established ten years ago and is a part of the University of Chester - one of England's most established universities which can trace its roots back to 1832.

Chester Business School offers a broad range of programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. In additional to generalist programmes in Business and Management, specialist programmes are offered in Marketing, Tourism, Events Management, HRM, Accountancy and Finance and International Business. The School specialises in the education and development of practising managers and leaders through part-time, in service, provision and offers a number of programmes within leading corporate client organisations. Students on the School's full-time programmes are educated alongside leaders and managers from the worlds of industry, commerce and public, not-for-profit, service organisations. In the words of one of our recent MBA graduates:

"At Chester, I learnt not just about management but, most importantly, about how to be a leader".

Chester Business School is now developing a strong reputation for the education of graduate, aspirant managers through its suite of 15 month, full-time MSc programmes in Management and through its flagship full-time MBA. Its MBA programme recruits and educates highly qualified and experienced managers from around the world to enable them to assume leadership roles in their chosen spheres.

In a crowded marketplace, the full-time Chester MBA is highly distinctive. The Chester MBA offers value for money, high quality management and leadership education and ensures, through the leadership careers opened up to graduates, a strong return on your investment of time and funding.

The Business School's host city of Chester provides a richly historical, calm, peaceful and safe setting for your life and studies. The vibrant economy of the Chester region provides opportunities for exciting business projects and ventures and good employment prospects should you wish to undertake complementary paid work alongside your study at our School. The lively student life offered by the city provides an opportunity for individuals and families to relax among an ever broadening community of international scholars from across the globe.

The MBA itself follows the well established curriculum for MBA programmes found in the world"s leading universities. However, here at Chester we specialise in the quality of your tuition. The standard of learning resources available to support your study have been rated as "excellent" by our existing students. You will have access to an ever expanding, well-stocked library but, more importantly, to a host of electronic resources to enable the specialised and in-depth research you will want to engage with. Class groups are small and therefore close attention and support from your professors is guaranteed. While our teaching provides extensive knowledge of business and management theories and principles, our classes focus on real issues and problems facing contemporary businesses and organisations. Assessments are similarly designed not merely to enable you to gain and retain business knowledge but, rather, to fully develop the skills and attitudes you will need for leadership success in the complex and turbulent world of contemporary organisations. One-to-one support from designated professors is an integral feature of our programme and all delegates benefit from access to language, study and cultural support services that are highly regarded by our international students. The faculty at Chester Business School are themselves culturally diverse and have truly global experience of life and work. Therefore, there is a high degree of awareness within Chester Business School of both the challenge but also the excitement of living, studying and working in a new culture.

You will have the opportunity to undertake an internship during your MBA whereby you could be resolving major, strategic challenges facing businesses and thereby significantly improving your employability and prospects in the global economy. Furthermore, the strong emphasis on creativity and innovation which characterises the Chester MBA prompts certain participants to launch their own business enterprises during their studies and such entrepreneurship will be fully supported by the real world business expertise of your professors.

Chester Business School professors are research active and through their research they are tackling some of the key problems and issues facing global businesses and international managers today. Moreover, many of the faculty who will teach you work in a consultancy capacity with senior management teams in significant private and public sector organisations in various parts of the world.

Here at Chester, you will not just learn about business but you will learn how to do business, about how to be a successful manager and leader capable of organisational transformation in the challenging global business environment of today.
