Why study an MBA in the United Arab Emirates?

As one of the world’s fastest growing countries rich with business and investment, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a great place to study an international MBA program. Home to seven states and several quality business schools, there are plenty of options – both local and international – when it comes to choosing an MBA program in the UAE.
The modernity and cutting edge facilities also help the UAE to stand out. Many international universities choose to maintain business schools or campuses in the UAE particularly in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, so you can get an international business education in a distinctly Middle Eastern setting.

What international MBA programs are offered in the United Arab Emirates?

Business education is booming in the Gulf and the UAE is at its forefront – six of the world’s top business schools are in the UAE, according to the Financial Times. Many major business schools have satellite campuses in the UAE, such as London Business School and Insead.

Unsurprisingly, MBA specialisations in fields such as energy, oil and gas management and strategy are popular in the UAE, given the country’s massive energy resources.

Immigration and visas in the United Arab Emirates

A student visa is mandatory for studying an MBA in the United Arab Emirates, with most visas only issued for a single year at a time.

However, these can then be renewed. You will also need a sponsor within the UAE – if you have no relatives or contacts in the country, your university should be able to sponsor you.

As a guide, you should expect to have to show the following:

  • A confirmed place at an approved institution
  • A letter of sponsorship from the university
  • Funds to support yourself during your studies
  • A clean medical examination report from an approved UAE centre

You should always check the relevant details required to study in the UAE from your country of origin.

What are the costs of studying for an MBA in the United Arab Emirates?

Tuition fee costs for studying an MBA in the United Arab Emirates varies wildly, depending on the institution and Emirate you choose to study at. You could pay anywhere from $5,000 to $80,000 depending on the level of study, reputation of the institution and mode of study you want.

Working in the United Arab Emirates

The UAE is a wealthy country with plenty of growth, largely down to its exports of natural resources such as petroleum and natural gas. The country has been spending billions on its infrastructure, particularly in the emirates of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, with both becoming tourist destinations in their own rights.

International students are currently not allowed to work part-time in the UAE, but you can transfer your study permit to a work visa if you get a job after graduation – which is a common occurrence for many MBA graduates in the UAE.
