Full Time MBA
Program and Course Information

A full-time MBA is the most popular international MBA program you can study. Aimed at established business professionals who want to develop their skills and employability, a full-time MBA qualification is recognised by employers around the world.

However, the intensive nature of a full-time MBA means it will be necessary to take a career break from your work in order to focus on studying full-time. In general, this is not a course for students who want to work alongside studying.

An MBA provides you with the skills, tools and contacts to take your management career to the next level. It can be the difference between being a middle manager or on the board.

What will I study on a full-time MBA program?

A full-time MBA program is an intensive period of study which is designed to prepare you for the pressurised corporate world. Course tutors will expect you to draw on your business experience and knowledge from your career, while also learning from your peers on the course.

Programs generally focus on core courses in the first and second semesters, before allowing you to choose your own electives for the second half of the year. Most full-time MBA programs will finish with a dissertation or extended business project which will allow you to put the skills you’ve learnt into practice.

You should expect your international MBA program to have content on the following:

  • Accounting and finance
  • Business analytics
  • Marketing
  • People management

Length and structure

A full-time MBA program will require you to study your degree without interference, so you will have to take a career break for the period of study. A typical international MBA program will take one to two years to complete. In general, choosing to study an MBA in Europe will mean studying for one year, while choosing to study an MBA in the US will take two years.

How can a full-time MBA program help my career?

A full-time MBA qualification is often seen as the best way to take your career to the next level and get a higher salary. Studying an MBA will expose you to the latest management techniques. Rather than simply answering questions from a textbook, you will be expected to use your management experience to provide new solutions to existing management issues.

One of the most popular reasons to do a full-time MBA is to get a higher salary. MBA graduates can get a salary increase of anywhere between 20-100%, depending on the institution they study at.

Entry requirements

The entry requirements for a full-time MBA program will depend on the institution you choose to study at. You will normally have to have an undergraduate degree, a certain period of work experience in business and GMAT score.

GMAT stands for graduate management admission test and is used by more than 2,000 universities as part of their entry requirements for business programs. The test will measure your analytical, writing, verbal and quantitative skills.

You may have to demonstrate the following:

  • A minimum of three years work experience
  • Language proficiency such as TOEFL
  • GMAT score
  • Personal recommendation
  • Successful interview
